Funeral services were held at the Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday, December 23, at 2 p.m. with Rev. T.D. Jennings,W.E. ‘Bud’ Wendell, David McCormick, Porter Waggoner, Jean Shephard, and Tommy Hunter officiating. Performers included Marty Stuart, Connie Smith, Billy Walker, Steve Wariner, John Berry, members of the Rainbow Ranch Boys, including steel guitarist Kayton Roberts, and The Hemphills. Active pallbearers included Joe Talbot, Larry Stumb, Kayton Roberts, Roger Carroll, Leon Rhodes, Herald Hensley, Clyde Candler and Mitch Abrams. Honorary Pallbearers included Billy Deaton, Tommy Vaden, Friday and Sherry Blackwood, E.W. ‘Bud’ Wendell, Billy Walker, Johnny Russell, Jimmy Dickens, Jean Shepherd’s band members, Peter ‘Oswald’ Kirby, Bill Carlisle, Arthur Irving, Ken Thompson, Eddie Stubbs, Jack Green, Chet Atkins, Ralph Emery, Mac Wiseman, Johnny Wright, Hillus Butrum, Buford Gentry, June and Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Hal Durham, as well as the Cast, Crew, Audio, Video and Stagehands of the Grand Ole Opry House.
