The Hank Snow Country Music Centre was overwhelmed by
the number of condolences received from fans all over, after the passing
of the one and only, Hank Snow.
Following is only a sampling of the many letters we
received:
We are sorry to hear of Mr. Snow’s passing. He was
truely a legend in his time. And though he will be sadly missed by all,
his music will live forever.
Barrie and Jane Conrad, Ken Churchill and Larry Macadam, Pleasantville,
Lunenburg Co., N.S.
Sorry to hear about Hank. He was in my book the greatest
of them all. He got me interested in country music when he did Rhumba
Boogie in the early 50s. His style of pickin along with the settel he
used was the greatest. None of the music today can even come close to
what he did.
John Jerrell, Strasburg, PA
The hits were his,
He could not miss,
Hank was No. 1.
He met the test,
He was the best,
This Nova Scotia son.

I would like to extend my feelings of loss and support
to the extended family of Hank. I really believe that the world was a
better place because of his self sacrifice and inspiration.
David R. Smith, Saltsprings, Pictou County, N.S.
I grew up one of The Singing Ranger’s biggest fans, and
am deeply, deeply saddened to learn of Hank Snow’s passing. I only wish
I had had the opportunity to see any of his performances in person. I
wish God’s blessing to him and his surviving family, and I am further
certain that in the Great Beyond, he is still “Movin’ On.”
Ted and Dottie Hickman, Millersville, Md.
I want to send my regrets at the passing of Mr. Snow. As
a fellow Canadian, who now lives in the U.S., I have a special interest
in Mr. Snow’s musical history. While I was born a little late (1954) to
appreciate his popularity (my parents were not very interested in
country music), I have found as I have gotten older a growing interest
in the recordings of country music’s pioneers. Mr. Snow clearly left his
mark on that musical heritage. I regret that I never had the opportunity
to hear him live at the Opry. I trust and pray that our Lord will be a
comfort and blessing to you in this time of loss.
Bob Barney, Wilmore, KY.
I am a long time fan of Hank Snow’s, and in fact
belonged to the “Hank Snow International Fan Club” when it existed. I
was shocked to hear of his death yesterday.
Patricia Quendt, Nashwaak Bridge, N.B.
Today is a sad day. I just watched the news announcement
of Hank’s passing. As a child growing up in Halifax, his name reined in
our home as much as mom and dad. I myself am only 36, and all my friends
said I was out of the times. I think it is sad they were not blessed by
the way Hank touched my heart then, now and always. To his family, be
proud. Remember the hearts he touched and God rest his loving soul.
Gertie Deslauriers, Orangeville, ON.
I really do not know how to express my sorrow to the
family of Hank Snow except to say he was the greatest singer of all
time. I have been listening to him ever since I was a teenager, even
when we could not get him here in the States. I used to listen to him on
CHSJ in Saint John, N.B., and CFNB out of Fredericton, N.B. I salute
you, Hank Snow, the greatest singer and picker of all time. Thank you
for many hours of wonderful listening.

My thoughts and prayers are with Hank’s family. My
family were huge fans of his. I would appreciate your passing this
message along.
Tracy Bell, Edmonton, Alberta
Deepest regards for the relatives of Hank. I’ve been a
big fan of his for many years. My grandfather was a railroad
engineer and I was a gandydancer for four years. His style stood out in
the field of country music as a very unique voice. His songs were and
always will be fresh and inventive model for all country musicians.
Timeless beauty.
John M. Adams, California, US
I am sorry to hear about the passing of Hank Snow. As I
grew up we listened to Hank all the time and he was a part of my
up-bringing. My father even took me to see him at Sunset Park in
Pennsylvania. I would like to say that my family wishes his family well
at this time and we are very sorry.
Patty Yori, Dowingtown, PA
So long, Hank. It’s the season for the “Reindeer
Boogie,” and we’ll be thinking of you.
